Description
Philippe studied composition & electroacoustic music in France at Marseille’s CNRR Conservatory of Music. There he majored in multi-channel diffusion, spatialization in acousmatic music, and modular synthesis. He also created MODULISME a pioneering platform/label dedicated to promoting modular synthesis. This free content is comprised of live sessions, albums, interviews, and news. It provides an extensive and growing international resource, highlighting the work of hundreds of composers. MODULISME is also a self-titled radio show broadcasting on a dozen radio stations worldwide. Philippe sees MODULISME as a natural continuation of his previously-owned, renowned, and prominent label BiP_HOp, whose main focus was on experimental material and alternatives to mainstream electronic music.
Gear: Philippe’s instruments of choice are Buchla modular synthesizers. He has been endorsed by the Buchla Electronic Musical Instruments Company for many years, and received accolades from pioneers such as Morton Subotnick, Suzanne Ciani, and Barry Schrader.
